History
Founded by Kayla Hicks, a visionary leader with over a decade of experience in violence prevention, SEG stands at the forefront of innovative, evidence-based approaches to violence intervention and prevention. We achieve this through strategic alliances with community-based organzations, higher education institutions, law enforcement, prosecutors, redevelopment and housing authorities, enviromental groups, various organizations, and agencies. Our collaborative efforts are dedicated to tackling the systemic issues that contribute to violence, particularly violence, against women and girls.
Kayla Hicks' unwavering commitment to social justice and equity has shaped SEG into a beacon of hope and a catalyst for change. Under her leadership, SEG combines rigorous studies with actionable strategies, making us not just subject matter experts but also the answer to the pervasive issues of violence in our communities.
Our primary campaign, InHer Corner, is designed to "Breaking the Silence on Violence" and empower women and girls at the highest risk of violence and victimization through research, education, and training. Before founding SEG, Kayla made significant contributions to natioanl grassroots organizing, national unions and the Gun Violence Prevention (GVP) movement and has worked with law enforcement to build bridges between disadvantaged and marginalized communities and police.
Her extraordinary journey, extensive expertise, and media presence make her a powerful voice and advocate for women, creating pathways for greater equity, opportunity, and social transformation. SEG, under Kayla's leadership, continues to make strides in its mission, fostering a more just and inclusive society.
