At Sustain Equity Group (SEG), we believe in the power of resilience, empowerment, and community. Our mission is to provide a safe and supportive environment for black women and girls affected by gun violence, offering resources to overcome trauma and creating opportunities for education and employment. We are committed to fostering a sense of community where survivors and co-survivors of gun violence, as well as black women experts, scholars, and practitioners working on gun violence prevention and community violence intervention, can heal, grow, and thrive.
Our members are resilient, determined, and seeking ways to overcome the physical, emotional, and psychological aftermath of violence. They value safety, empowerment, and community and will likely engage with brands that reflect these values.
Our approach is based on the following principles:
Holistic Support: We provide comprehensive support to black women, recognizing the interconnected nature of their experiences and needs. Our approach encompasses a range of services, including mentorship, skill-building programs, educational opportunities, access to resources, and mental health support.
Collaboration and Partnerships: We actively seek partnerships and collaborations with organizations, community leaders, and stakeholders who share our commitment to advancing racial equity and ending violence.
Amplifying Voices: We prioritize amplifying the voices and experiences of black women affected by gun violence and community violence. We create platforms and spaces for black women to share their stories, insights, and expertise.
Empowerment through Education and Skill-building: We recognize that education and skill-building are crucial tools for empowerment. We offer educational programs, workshops, and training opportunities to equip black women with the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to effectively address gun violence and community violence.
Advocacy and Policy Reform: We advocate for policy reforms that address the root causes of gun violence and community violence, with a specific focus on the experiences of black women and girls.
Research and Evaluation: We engage in continuous research and evaluation to inform our approach and measure the impact of our programs and initiatives.
By adopting this comprehensive and collaborative approach, we aim to create meaningful and lasting change in the lives of black women affected by gun violence and community violence while advancing our mission and vision of a more equitable, inclusive, and safe society for all.
